How to join us

The two ensembles are open to all adult players of wind instruments. There are no auditions – a love of music and the desire to learn and improve are all that is required, together with a commitment to practice and to attend rehearsals regularly. The main benefit of membership is the opportunity to play music regularly in an ensemble.

Prospective members are invited to come to a trial rehearsal before deciding whether they would like to become a member.

If an instrumental section is full, people who contact us are invited to join the related waiting list. Then the general principle is that we invite people on the list to trial rehearsals in the order that they contacted us.

Membership fees

The membership fee, for either the Ensemble or the Band, is currently equivalent to £7.50 per rehearsal. Membership covers the cost of our rehearsal venues, cost of arrangements, music purchase and commissions, and the services of our professional music directors. We have a concessionary rate for full time students and others with limited financial means.

Bloomsbury Woodwind Ensemble

The ensemble is open to adult players of flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and saxophones. We aim to recruit mainly in the early weeks of each series of rehearsals leading up to a concert. Feel free to get in touch, however, at any time to express interest.

All our sections are up to strength at the moment. We have waiting lists for all instruments.

We rehearse on about 45 Tuesdays in the year from 7 pm until 9 pm. Our rehearsal venue is the Band Room, Coram's Fields. Please do not come to a rehearsal unless invited to do so.

Bloomsbury Band

The ensemble is open to adult flute and clarinet players.  At the moment we have a full complement of players in both the flute and clarinet sections. Please get in touch if you would like to be added to the waiting list to join either of these sections.

We rehearse on Mondays from 7 pm - 9 pm at Lumen in Tavistock Place, Bloomsbury. Please do not come to a rehearsal unless invited to do so.
