How to Join One of Our Ensembles

The two ensembles are open to all adult players of wind instruments. There are no auditions – a love of music and the desire to learn and improve are all that is required, together with a commitment to practice and to attend rehearsals regularly. The main benefit of membership is the opportunity to play music regularly in an ensemble.

The ensemble is open to adult players of flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and saxophones.  We rehearse on about 45 Tuesdays in the year from 7 pm until 9 pm. Our rehearsal venue is St George's Church Bloomsbury. Please do not come to a rehearsal unless invited to do so.

The ensemble is open to adult flute and clarinet players.  We rehearse on Mondays from 7 pm - 9 pm at St Mary’s with St George’s German Lutheran Church in Sandwich Street, Bloomsbury. Please do not come to a rehearsal unless invited to do so.

Prospective members are invited to come to a trial rehearsal before deciding whether they would like to become a member.

If an instrumental section is full, people who contact us are invited to join the related waiting list. Then the general principle is that we invite people on the list to trial rehearsals in the order that they contacted us.

Membership fees

The membership fee, for either the Ensemble or the Band, is currently equivalent to £8.00 per rehearsal. Membership covers the cost of our rehearsal venues, cost of arrangements, music purchase and commissions, and the services of our professional music directors. We have a concessionary rate for full-time students and others with limited financial means.
