We have invited our former director of music, Shea Lolin to curate, rehearse and conduct our November 2026 concert.
Shea has asked Stephen Chadwick, one of our tenor saxophonists, to create an original landmark commission for the concert. He is also planning four new arrangements for Tales of Midnight as well as selecting music from BWE's back catalogue.
Our audience will be invited to step into the shadows during an evocative programme exploring folklore, darkness and imagination after dark. From the gothic drama of Marschner’s Overture to Der Vampyr to the haunting introspection of Lili Boulanger’s D’un Soir Triste, the concert will weaves atmosphere and emotion throughout.
Grieg’s unforgettable Peer Gynt scenes will summon trolls, pursuit and profound loss, while the epic worlds of modern storytelling will be brought to life in Ramin Djawadi’s Game of Thrones theme and Hans Zimmer’s Interstellar Suite.
The programme will also include Mozart’s electrifying Don Giovanni Overture , together with by Svendsen’s noble Andante Funèbre and Doreen Carwithen’s gripping film score Mantrap. |
